I can't recommend the Trine series at all, there are so many better games out there. The entire time I played that game, I never felt like I was "solving puzzles", I just felt like I was getting frustrated at a physics tech demo for 5 minutes until my character finally did what I wanted. You can bypass virtually the entire game just doing this very basic move that they teach you in the first ten minutes of the game.Īnd sure, you could just make a house rule that you aren't going to do that, but the game itself just isn't that fun on its own to warrant meeting it on those terms. Virtually all of the puzzles in the game just end up being solved the same way: the wizard makes a platform, and lifts everyone to where they need to go. Unfortunately, the very loose physics system and extremely flighty controls in the game makes it easy to cheese literally every puzzle. It is clear that the designers put a lot of thought into the cooperative elements of each of the puzzles. Join Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Soya the thief on a journey across a. Its progressive reward system and ability to cater for gameplay variety keeps the adventure entertaining for the half a dozen hours or so it takes to complete the game. Experience the complete Trine series with Trine: ultimate collection. And if this game had a chancal? rigid? limited?.,platforming system the game could have been quite good I feel because it would have forced you to really coordinate to make the puzzles work. After nearly a decade, Trine Enchanted Edition still looks and plays as wondrously as ever. When you first walk into a room, you will often think, "oh okay, I'll make a box and drop it as a weight on that lever, and then you use the archer to swing up to the top, then hit the switch, and shoot in arrow over there it will open the path to do.yadda yadda yadda". Now, the "cooperative" puzzles in this game are the main attraction, and admittedly they always look elaborate when you first see them. At an MSRP of 15, the pricing might seem a bit steep at first, but given the stunning presentation, the varied gameplay, and the bevy of multiplayer options the price is more than justified. The main gameplay loop consists of exceedingly dull combat, followed by physics puzzles, and you beat these puzzles by switching between three different characters, each with special abilities to help you solve the puzzles (but you will actually only play as the wizard when solving problems, because he is the only useful one). Trine: Enchanted Edition might be over six years old, but Frozenbyte has done wonders to make the game look and feel every bit like a current release. We played it 3 years ago and even then it felt very outdated. Generally favorable reviews based on 21 Ratings, Your Score, 0, Summary: Trine Enchanted Edition is a fantasy-based action platformer with a fairytale-esque atmosphere, which tracks the journey of three heroes a Wizard, a Knight and a Thief in a mission to save the kingdom from evil. Trine, for me and my friends, was a painfully mediocre, forgettable experience. Not trying to disparage the game or anyone who loves it, but just thought I would weigh in to give this thread some balance for anyone who came to see if it is the kind of game they would want to buy.
